While I typically refrain from blogging about the design work that I do at Circle Design Incorporated, this is one of the few times where I break those rules... as I feel it's a privilege and honour to be able to design stamps/philatelic materials. ;)
The latest set of commemorative stamps we designed for Canada Post were launched today in Toronto, ON.
The limited edition stamps and philatelic materials (official first day cancellation [OFDC], self-adhesive booklets, postcards, etc.) will be available as of today, in post offices across the country and online via the Canada Post website - for more information visit www.circle.mb.ca - Cheers!
*P.S. - For my friends who were in the know, this was the main reason for my visit out to Ottawa, ON back in February, as hinted in this photo I posted to Flickr - feel free to check out the rest of the photos I took during that trip, here - enjoy!
*P.P.S. - Have a great Canada Day long-weekend!!!

COOL! Canada Post Recording Artists Stamps...

It's not very often that I blog about the work I do at Circle - for reasons of security, confidentiality, etc... but I'm making an exception with this post. ;)
Today, Canada Post released the second set of the Canadian Recording Artists stamps. Circle designed the previous series a few years back, which was a great success. I'm very proud to say that I had the privilege of working on this series. Featured artists include Robert Charlebois, Édith Butler, Bryan Adams and Stompin' Tom Connors...

...the stamp series was featured in the latest edition of Details magazine, Canada Post's quarterly publication for stamp collectors. You can view some pix of the article on my Flickr, here - or even better, read it online, here - enjoy!
Additional information regarding the project can be found on Circle's News+ section of the website, here.
Here are some additional links to stories in the media regarding the release:

Recommended Viewing | Art of the Luggage Label's Flickr Set...

Friend and design colleague at Circle, Robert L. Peters recently blogged about a really cool collection of historic luggage labels on Flickr.
Excerpt from Rob's blog post: I stumbled across this lovely little collection today, an “image stream and information resource devoted to the art of luggage labels and related travel ephemera. Luggage labels are fascinating bits of hotel history from the golden age of travel, roughly the 1900s to 1960s. During this time these labels were used by hotels as advertising and eagerly applied to steamer trunks, suitcases and all sorts of luggage by hotel staff, mainly bellhops.” Check out the Flickr set here - enjoy!
Visit Rob's News+ blog at http://www.robertlpeters.com/news/ - there's a wealth of knowledge and cool things to browse through! Cheers!

COOL! Mr. King - Malaysian Seal Engraver...

There's a really neat article over on Pingmag about Mr. Ze-King Tham, a Malaysian seal engraver. Mr. King (it's how he was introduced), hand engraves up to 15 seals a day. The seals that he crafts range from the typical 'chop' style signature seals (consisting of Chinese characters arranged to fit inside of a grid), to more exotic Arabic signature seals and illustrated portraits of famous people. You have to check it out! Read the original post (with more images) on Pingmag here. Cheers!
