COOL! iPhone - Typographic Reference Manual...

I'm on the verge of taking the plunge, and getting me an iPhone... do I really need it? No. Do I want one? HELL YEAH! The fact that GDC Members can get a discounted iPhone rate from Rogers adds to the enticement... ;P

Seriously, aside from the obvious 'cool factor', the iPhone applications are what really attract me... like the one above, which was recently posted to the GDC Listserve by Marilyn Matty - a long standing contributor to the GDC Listserve. If you're a designer, I'd think that this application will be highly valuable to you... learn more about the application at their website, http://typographyapp.com/ - enjoy!

Thanks to the Marilyn for sharing the link with the GDC Listserve - cheers!

Mac OSX Leopard Launches Today!

So after getting my PowerBook back for about a week now, I've noticed a few odd things here and there. After making a quick call to the Mac Service guys to discuss what I should do, they made a suggestion to re-install my operating system. So I've spent a good portion of the day just trying to get my computer back into 'full' working order... which again brings up the issue of making timely back-ups. Which in turn leads to Apple's launch today of their latest operating system... Mac OSX Leopard. I'm very keen to hear more about it, the Time-Machine function looks invaluable. Here's a review via CNET. I'll be sure to let you know if I decide to make the jump. ;)

Apple's New iMac

Apple Computers recently unveiled their latest version of the popular iMac. Available in 20- and 24-inch widescreen models, it includes built-in wireless, Mac OS X, and the new iLife ’08. With its anodized aluminum frame and glass cover, it’s visually striking to behold. Apparently, Apple used recyclable glass and aluminum to make this iMac friendlier to the environment. Either way, it is a thing of beauty... I especially like the wicked thin aluminum keyboard. I have got to get me one...
